Greenville, South Carolina

We visited Greenville because it had an airport with a direct flight to our home, but it was a place that we enjoyed exploring!

In Greenville, we stayed at the newly built Grand Bohemian Lodge. It is a beautiful structure and the location is incredible. As a new hotel it is probably pretty busy most of the time, but we ended up staying there during the annual Fall for Greenville Event. It was the hotel’s first full capacity weekend.

We stayed in lovely room with a balcony and great view of the waterfalls. There are very few rooms with balconies at this hotel, so it was extra nice to have one. We were a bit traveled out at this point, so we did not spend too much time on the balcony.

We were looking forward to eating at the hotel restaurant and enjoying the view, but we did not realize that due to the Fall for Greenville event it would be so crowded. In hindsight, we should have made a reservation. We tried to eat early or late, but it was still challenging. We ended up in the bar both nights and got the sliders both times. Those sliders were one of the best things we found in Greenville!

One of the first things we did in Greenville after our slider snack was to head across the suspension bridge, visit Falls Park on the Reedy, and take in some of the sights for the Fall for Greenville event.

There was much to see at Falls Park. We walked across the bridge and then walked down to the banks of the river. There were stairs and a path to get there. It was very accessible. There were many groups and families around the area exploring and even climbing on rocks in the river. We saw several brides and couples having their photos taken.

After some time exploring, we continued our walk over to Main Street. Even though it was late, many of the stores were still open for the event. There was a big stage and live music. There was a big crowd at the event, so we decided to head back to the hotel before it got too dark.

We spent the majority of the next day on a quick day trip to Hendersonville, NC. By the time we made it back for the night, we got our nightly sliders from the bar and headed back to the room.
